This was one of the tiniest beaches I've been to. A small sandy area next to a pier was backed by changing cabins and washrooms. But its advantages were many. It was clean and nearly isolated; other than a few locals who came and went, we had the area to ourselves. And it was a short walk from both the cruise ship dock and downtown Aarhus.
One of the things I always consider on trips is pacing. No matter how many glorious sights there are to see, everyone needs some downtime. We'd seen many glorious sights already on this trip, from Stockholm's Vasa Museum to St. Petersburg's Catherine Palace. (Actually, everything in St. Petersburg was glorious.) And we were starting to feel a bit of vacation fatigue.
So our few hours on a tiny beach in Aarhus were perfect. A chance to run around in our bare feet, collect shells and play in the sand. And we left feeling ready to see the beautiful ports that still lay ahead of us.

Beth, your girls are gorgeous!
And yes, sometimes it's those out-of-the-way areas that offer the most enjoyment- Denmark sometimes seems overshadowed by Sweden and Norway.
Thanks, Valerie!
I know what you mean, and Aarhus is definitely Second City to Copenhagen. But we really enjoyed our time there.
OMG, I've been to Aarhus. Hub and I took the train from Hamburg to visit friends there. The entire ride was spectacular. Aarhus is going to be a Culture Capital of Europe either next year or the next. There's really lots there. A blog follower from Aarhus says they're sprucing up the historic buildings.
Beth, your girls are beautiful!
Yep, that's a gorgeous pair of girls you've got! I agree about every vacation needing a bit of downtime :)
Great pics - and lovely girls!! :)
Super advice - go, go, go on a vacation means you'll collapse and never really enjoy it! :)
What beautiful photos of your daughters! We never seem to schedule enough downtime when we vacation...I'll make a point to do that with our next trip :)
Your daughters are lovely--what a wonderful family trip! I like beaches for "downtime" too. We drove from Wisconsin through Canada to Vermont a number of years ago and hit a few beaches on the way. We liked one so much we stopped again on the way back!
Awww what a fun beach trip, so much to do :D
Cheers

For sure! Nothing worse than trying to cram too many things into one trip. You have the right idea about pacing on a vacation. ;)
Looks lovely and sounds even better! Enjoy for all of us! :)
I feel like your girls are growing up before our eyes...so pretty! It's great that you take advantage of every little spot you come upon, even a tiny beach:)
Beth, the pictures of your daughters are just fantastic, they are beautiful! What a great little post reminding us that we need to slow down a bit more, even if we are on vacation!
It looks wonderful. I'm not the best one at planning downtime, but it's definitely welcome during a long trip.
Beautiful pictures of your girls Beth!! I have Denmark on my list of places to visit, my grandmother on my dad's side was born there so I always thought that one day I would visit;-) I would love to see this beach and the cathedral at Aarhus..someday, I hope;-)
What wonderful pictures of your girls!
I wish I could travel as much as you. You always have amazing adventures.
What beautiful photos of your girls. The beach sounds pretty perfect to me. I love nothing more than feeling like you have the entire beach to yourselves.
Two young beautiful ladies! I love their outfits..
Gorgeous girls.
You are so right - it's so important to get some down time on vacation because I always feel like i need another vacation by the time I get back home!
Gorgeous daughters, Beth! And I so agree...there's nothing like a beach to relax!
You have two beautiful girls Beth! And sea always brings relaxation and calmness!
Your daughters are beautiful, Beth! Love the photos of the beach…so very relaxing! I love walking the beach, looking for seashells…looks like your daughter found some to take home!
I concur that your daughters are just beautiful! I am in agreement with "downtime" on a busy vacation. My daughter and I always pencil that in to the amusement of husband and son - but you know - they always appreciate it.
